The 'technical issue' which forced Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre to close on Friday (September 4), was a temporary power cut.

Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre, which is operated by Fife Sports and Leisure Trust on behalf of Fife Council, had to shut its doors again last week.

This followed the venue also had to temporarily shut back in August, after there was an issue with the roof and checks had to be carried out on the internal roof tiles.

Now, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust have said that there was a temporary power cut in the building, which meant some areas had to be closed for health and safety reasons.

The venue then reopened as normal on Saturday (September 5).

As previously reported in the Times, the centre reopened last September after an £8 million facelift.

The facility closed its doors in 2024 to undergo major changes, which included extending the gym area, the swimming pool area being modernised, and the health suite being revitalised with a brand-new sauna and steam room.
