RESIDENTS in Cowdenbeath and Kelty have been asked to dispose of their excess rubbish by themselves after bins were not collected last Friday.
Councillor Darren Watt took to social media to issue an update saying that Fife Council have confirmed they do not have the capacity to collect the bins that were missed last Friday, August 27.
Residents should now remove their bins from the street and take cans and plastics to recycling centres across Fife by themselves.
The councillor said: “If this is not an option, residents are asked to bag up their excess cans and plastics, and leave beside their green bin on the next scheduled collection date in just over three weeks’ time.
“I have been further advised that any bin missed this week will hopefully be collected by Saturday evening, therefore, residents are asked to leave their uncollected bins kerbside for now.”

The council say they have been hit hard by staff absence partly due to Covid cases rising across the country.
Mr Watt added: “I am very grateful to the service's senior management for their updates and quick response to queries, however, I am personally disappointed with Fife Council's communication via social media.
“This has often resulted in further confusion and uncertainty, and leaving residents with more questions than answers. That is why I have tried to share specific and local updates and information via my own page.”
