COWDENBEATH is delighted to confirm that they have again agreed a Co-operation Agreement with Premiership club, Motherwell.
And the new agreement for season 2026/27 has been kicked off by Lucas Weir joining the Blue Brazil.
The 17-year old is an attacking midfielder who is equally comfortable as striker, and he recently made his first team bow for the ‘Well.
This is the same sort of agreement which last season saw striker Nathan Lawson play for the Blues, courtesy of Motherwell, and score a number of important goals.
Cowdenbeath’s Director of Football Operations, Colin Nelson, said, "We are absolutely delighted to announce this co-operation agreement with Motherwell
“We have a great working relationship with them and it's a real positive that they see us as a good partner for helping develop young Scottish players.
“Over the past three seasons we have taken five Motherwell players on loan, as well as permanently signing two ex-'Well academy players, which highlights the strong working relationship we have.”
He added: “Motherwell are a club with an excellent reputation for developing young players, and we are looking forward to enhancing our strong relationship with them.
“We initially will bring young attacking midfielder Lucas to the club as part of the move. Lucas is highly regarded within the club’s youth system and already has played a part with the first team in training and in playing in pre-season games.
“As the season progresses there will likely be further opportunities for young talent from the Motherwell set-up to join us and I must thank again Nick Daws and David Clarkson, at Motherwell, for their help in creating this agreement."
