A West Fife footballer has been forced to stop playing due to a head injury sustained on the pitch.
Cowdenbeath Central’s Reece Strachan was “gutted” to have his playing journey cut short.
He said in a statement: “Unfortunately, it's time to hang up the boots. After suffering a serious head knock five weeks ago, after many scans etc I’ve been advised not to play again as the next one could be serious with having a few concussions in the past.
“I've had the pleasure of playing with some superb players and playing under some very good managers. Also been in some great changing rooms and also met friends for life.
“This is not something I wanted to happen at 29-years-old as football has been my life since I was eight years old.”
The East of Scotland league left-back, who is from Dunfermline, previously played for Oakley United and was at Dundee FC as a youngster.
He continued: “Going to miss getting up on a Saturday looking forward to a game and would never moan about playing in torrential rain and snow ever again at minus five degrees.
“It's been an absolute pleasure and absolutely gutted, maybe time to take up some coaching to save getting dragged around the shops at the weekend.”
