“WE CAN beat anybody on any given day.”
That is the message from Kelty Hearts boss Tam O’Ware as his side prepare for a major SPFL League Two test against table-topping Clyde this weekend.
Speaking after Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Annan Athletic, he admitted the visit to the early pace-setters will be “an incredibly tough game”, as his side look for their first away win of the season.
He said: “Clyde’s a 100-minute game. They go to the very end, as so many teams in this league do.
“They’ve been excellent. For me, they’re up there with one of the favourites for the league.
“They’ve got some incredible players, well organised.
“It’s going to be an incredibly tough game. We need to be at it, as simple as that.
“I’m more focused on us rather than the opposition because I need us to show up.
“I believe that if we show up, we can beat anybody on any given day.”
Before that trip, the Maroon Machine take on Cumbernauld Colts in the KDM Evolution Trophy on Tuesday night.
Speaking before the midweek fixture, O’Ware said his depleted squad means there is limited opportunity to rest players ahead of the weekend.
Fin Moffett was expected to be sidelined for between four and six weeks after being forced off during Saturday’s win, while Ryan Shanley was facing a similar absence after rolling his ankle in training.
They join an ever-growing list of players currently out. Something that had a huge impact on their performance last season.
He said: “We’re down bodies. We’re down three or four starters.
“Dylan Corr, Lewis Moore, Ryan Shanley and now Theo McCormick who's just come in. Three of them have started like every game, so we’re down some big bodies.
“It’s nothing that I haven’t dealt with before. We just need to keep going.”
The manager added: “We always try and rest players, but the struggle with Tuesday night is we’re six players down.
“We don’t have the luxury of making 10 changes.
“We’ll try and rest maybe one or two, but sadly, predominantly, a lot of players are going to need to play 90 minutes.”
