AFTER an excellent win at Galashiels, Hill of Beath Hawthorn face a major test this Saturday when they take on third-placed Bonnyrigg Rose at New Dundas Park.
The 4-3 victory over Gala Fairydean Rovers last weekend lifted Haws to sixth in the Lowland League East table, with nine points from their opening five matches.
Haws boss Robbie Raeside was pleased to see his side come through an entertaining encounter in the Borders, but knows they face a difficult challenge against a Bonnyrigg side who have made a strong start to the campaign.
He said: “It was a great game for the fans of both sides at Galashiels, but not for a manager!
“Both sides went at it looking for goals and it was a thoroughly entertaining match, with us getting the win we wanted.
“We are on nine points now from five games, which is as good a start as we could have hoped for, but we probably now face our toughest test so far.
“Bonnyrigg have made a good start to the season and we know that this will be a thorough examination of us, but we will be going there to do our best to add to our points total.
“We want to keep picking up wins and draws to ensure we keep well clear of the bottom area of the table.”
Rose currently sit third in the table, narrowly missing out on the promotion play-offs last season following their relegation from League Two, and will again be looking to challenge at the top end of the table.
Raeside is continuing to welcome players back and is close to having a full-strength squad available.
Meanwhile, Hill of Beath fans are in for a treat on Monday night when Hearts B visit Keir’s Park for a friendly, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
Last Friday, the Haws under-20s recorded an emphatic 7-0 win over Lochgelly Albert under-20s in the East of Scotland Development League.
