HILL of Beath Hawthorn boss, Robbie Raeside, was warm in his praise for the influence of the teenagers in the side had in Saturday's East of Scotland Qualifying Cup win over Easthouses Lily.
Eighteen year-old striker, Liam Middleton, hit a hat-trick, but also making an impact were corner exponent, Josh Proudfoot, right-back Ryan Kelly and midfielder James Linton.
And their performance may see Raeside include them in the side for this Saturday's Lowland League East test at Gala Fairydean this weekend.
“We had four teens in the side and another player who had just turned 20, and they all played their part in a good win for the club,” he said after the match.
“Liam took his hat-trick well and created another goal, so it was a memorable day for him and hopefully there will be many more for him in his career.
“Josh, Ryan and James were also very prominent throughout and while it was a different sort of game to the Lowland League East matches we have played this season, Easthouses are unbeaten in the East of Scotland First Division so far and are a decent side, but our team handled the challenge well.”
Pleased to get to the next round of the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup, the manager is looking for his side to add to the six Lowland League East points they have, from their four games played, when they head to Netherdale this weekend to play Gala Fairydean.
“This will another tough match for us, but if we show the same sort of form we have produced over the past few weeks we can get a result down there,” he added.
“We are still one or two players short having a full squad available, but the lads who have come in have done a great job and I feel we can go to Galashiels with confidence.”
