Tam O'Ware is confident that Ryan Shanley will prove to be a dangerous addition to Kelty Hearts' attack - as long as he's provided with ammunition.
The 25-year-old moved to New Central Park from Stirling Albion in the summer, having previously played for the club on loan, whilst they were in the Lowland League, as he came through the ranks at Hibernian.
Shanley has enjoyed successful spells with both Edinburgh City and Falkirk prior to joining the Binos, for whom he netted 18 goals, during a season-and-a-half with them.
The forward has started in all of Kelty's competitive games so far, in both the Premier Sports Cup, and their League Two opener at Forfar Athletic on Saturday.
He opened his account for O'Ware's side with a brace at home to Brora Rangers, in the former competition, and his new boss is confident he, and another new arrival in attack, Finn Moffett, can boost their conversion rate.
They scored just 33 times in 36 League One outings last season, when they were relegated after four seasons at that level, and O'Ware said: "He's done well.
"The Queen of the South game (Kelty's opening game in Premier Sports Cup, Group A) I thought, for the hour, he was really good.
"Against Brora, again, that's what we didn't have last year, and I keep saying that. We didn't have a goalscorer, we didn't have somebody to put chances away.
"He's got so much more to give and he'll get better and better.
"We need to get that work-rate up, we need to get out of possession stuff, to turn him into a real asset to the team, but, one thing that he does have, that you can't really teach, is an eye for goal.
"Us, as a team, need to keep feeding chances in those forward areas.
"Finn as well has got so much ability around that final third but, again, it needs to be on a consistent basis.
"It needs to be constant actions all the time in that final third that lead to more chances."
