Bowhill Miners Boxing Club star Niamh Mitchell is set to step into the ring and make her Commonwealth Games debut this evening.
The 20-year-old, on day five of the sporting extravaganza in Glasgow, will get her opportunity to showcase her talents at the SEC (Scottish Events Campus).
Niamh is competing in the women's 60kg lightweight category in the boxing programme, and takes on India's Priya Priya in the quarter-finals.
Competing at the Games continues a meteoric rise for Niamh in the sport since she made the switch from kickboxing.
Four years ago, she became the first Scottish female boxer to win an international major title, at the EUBC (European Boxing Confederation) European Championships.
Earlier this year, Niamh made further history by earning Scotland's first senior female international gold medal, when she claimed gold at the Bocskai Tournament in Hungary.
Niamh is due to step into the ring at 6.30pm and, if successful, she'll progress to the semi-finals on Friday evening.
