Kelty Hearts 3 Brora Rangers 2, Premier Sports Cup, Group A
Tam O'Ware has revealed that Kelty Hearts are set to make further additions after earning a first Premier Sports Cup victory.
Finn Moffett struck in stoppage time to edge out Highland League opponents, Brora Rangers, at New Central Park on Tuesday evening.
Ryan Shanley struck a brace, either side of a James Wallace effort, for the hosts, before Shane Sutherland levelled the game for a second time.
However, Moffett poked home, after tenacious play by captain Jack Brydon, to earn the Maroon Machine their first victory in Group A.
O'Ware, who said he was "disappointed with the overall performance", has said further recruits - seven have arrived so far this summer - are on their way, one of which could be announced before Saturday's trip to Aberdeen.
"I understand where we're at," he said.
"It's the same group of boys that we've asked to go and play Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday. We've not got a squad of 17, 18, 19 yet.
"There'll be three, four bodies coming in in the next seven to 10 days, but, overall, the last three games, there's positives to take.
"But there's some weaknesses that we need to iron out before going into the league."
O'Ware's men drew at Queen of the South, who host the Dons tonight (Wednesday), picking up a penalty shoot-out bonus point, and lost at home to second tier Queen's Park, in their two previous games.
They had beaten Brora convincingly away from home at this stage of last year's competition, and went in front through Shanley, one of their new signings.
The former Falkirk, Edinburgh City and Stirling Albion forward clinically finished off from Dylan Corr's ball 10 minutes in, and he, and several others, had further chances to score.
However, Brora tested Kelty keeper, Jamie Smith, too and levelled when Wallace's looped effort kissed the far post and landed in the back of the net.
Shanley, though, was always a threat, and he regained the lead for his team by running on to Ross Cunningham's through ball and finishing across the goalkeeper.
Midway through the second half, however, Sutherland pulled the visitors level for a second time, but it was Moffett who had the final say to give Kelty maximum points.
"Queen of the South, we were excellent. Queen's Park, for 65-70 minutes, we were really good. Tonight, I just felt the mentality was off," O'Ware observed.
"We started the first 15 minutes excellent, we score the goal, but then we stop doing everything that we were doing so well.
"We start causing our downfall. We start being slack, we stopped being aggressive, and, again, it doesn't matter what team you're playing against, they'll always be able to hurt you.
"I was disappointed between 20 and, I'd say, 40 minutes. The last five minutes, obviously we get the goal, go ahead. Again, we then start the second half slack, and then, the last 20 minutes of the second half, we were really good.
"We put Ross into midfield, got on the ball, forward passes, accessed the backline, but the one thing that we need to be better at is both boxes.
"We gave up a lot of chances through not great play, directness, that we need to learn how to deal with.
"But, at the same time, we should've scored three more goals. It's three clear-cut chances that we need to be more ruthless with."
