Dunfermline have entered into a co-operation agreement with Kelty Hearts.
The two neighbours have teamed-up as part of a Scottish Football Association initiative, and will see Alasdair Davidson move to the latter on loan.
Introduced by the governing body last summer, initially on a one-year trial basis, the scheme aims to increase the number of youngsters in the pro-youth set-up who establish themselves at senior level.
It allows a parent club - in this case, the Pars - to enter a partnership with a lower division side where they can send players aged between 16-21, who are eligible to represent the Scotland national teams, to them throughout the season, with the player registration shared between the clubs.
Kelty, during the first half of the campaign, had such an agreement with Aberdeen, but that came to an end last month, with the Dons entering into one with Cove Rangers.
Athletic, also last month, entered into a co-operation agreement with Lowland League, Bo'ness United, with whom their promising teenager forward, Lucas Fyfe, is on loan.
Davidson had been with them on a temporary arrangement from October, but now makes the move to Tam O'Ware's side, who are bottom of League One.
The Pars said that they were "pleased" to announce the partnership with the Maroon Machine, who they knocked out of the Scottish Cup, in the fifth round, earlier this month.
"We are delighted to confirm that the club have signed a co-operation agreement with near neighbours Dunfermline Athletic," Kelty said.
"Following the end of our previous agreement with Aberdeen FC, we are delighted to extend our close working relationship with the Pars, and look forward to developing the relationship even further."
Davidson joins fellow Dunfermline defender Sam Fisher, who is on loan in a deal that is separate from the co-operation agreement, at New Central Park.
