The Crossgates Flying Club recently participated in the Otterburn Y.B. race, where nine members sent a total of 241 birds to compete.
This event showcased the skills of both the birds and their handlers, as they aimed for the top positions in this thrilling race.
In pigeon racing, the distance of the race is predetermined, and the winner is not determined by the bird that completes the race in the shortest time, but rather the pigeon that reached the highest velocity.
Velocity is measured in yards per minute, and the pigeon with the maximum velocity is declared the winner.
