COWDENBEATH Bowling Club produced an excellent performance on Saturday to take a strong first leg lead in the Soap Trophy against Thornton.

Some solid play at the Bowling Green Street green, saw the home rinks win a clear advantage ahead of the second leg at Thornton, in July.

Rink scores were: Cowdenbeath - Bobby Reekie 17, Darren Leith vice president 18, Jim Watson 19, Lindsay Black 18, Brian Morris 14, Stevie Watson 12, total 89.

Thornton - Andy Bell 7, Alan Fleming Thornton president 8, Billy Wright 10, Mark Fleming 4, David McKenzie 6, Billy Thompson 12, total 47.
