COWDENBEATH have been rewarded for their fine victory at The Spartans on Saturday with a home tie in the third round of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup.

The draw for the next stage of the tournament took place at Hampden this evening, and Dougie Hill's Blue Brazil were paired with fellow former SPFL side, Brechin City, at Central Park.

Kelty Hearts, meanwhile, were handed a trip to Elgin City, with the matches due to be played over the weekend of November 30.

Lowland League Cowden produced a shock at the weekend with victory over League Two The Spartans at Ainslie Park.

Hill's side, who defeated Rutherglen Glencairn in the first round, took a first half lead through Rhys Walker, only for Brogan Walls to equalise in the 68th minute.

However, with seven minutes to go, Gregor Jordan hit the winner for the Blues, setting up a match with Highland League leaders Brechin, who edged out their divisional rivals, Huntly, 3-2 at Glebe Park in their second round tie.

Cowden were 3-2 winners the last time the teams met, in a League Cup group stage tie, at Central Park, three years ago, and were 1-0 winners in a replay, after a 1-1 draw at home, when they last met in the Scottish Cup in 2007.

Michael Tidser's Kelty, meanwhile, will face Elgin for a third time this season in cup competitions.

The League One side, who were beaten at Stenhousemuir yesterday, travelled to Borough Briggs in the group stage of the Premier Sports Cup in July and drew 1-1, with the hosts earning a bonus point by winning a penalty shoot-out.

They were then paired together again in the SPFL Trust Trophy third round, with Kelty prevailing by a 3-1 scoreline at New Central Park.
