MICHAEL TIDSER wants his Kelty Hearts team to "be on the front foot" when they visit Queen of the South this weekend and bid to move further clear of relegation play-off danger.

The New Central Park outfit make the trip to Palmerston on Saturday following an important three points against Edinburgh City, which moved them six clear of second bottom Annan Athletic.

With five games of their League One season to go, Kelty are sixth in the table, one place and three points above the Doonhamers, who are ahead of eighth-placed Stirling Albion on goal difference.

With a home game against the latter to immediately follow their visit to Dumfries, Tidser knows that a good result against Marvin Bartley's team, who they have defeated twice and drawn once with so far this season, would go a long way to securing their third tier status.

"We've got to focus on ourselves," he told Times Sport.

"I think we've beaten Queen of the South twice this season and taken a point here (in the last meeting of the teams in February), so it's important for us to go down there with a few more bodies back, go and take the game to them, and go and try and win.

"I'd be kidding myself on if I said go down and just be happy to sit in and try and take a point. If that's the case, you're going down to try and lose a game for me.

"We want to be on the front foot, get after them and play our football. It's a big pitch, hopefully we can get a wee bit rain on it, so it's nice and slippy, and we can get back to doing what we do, get the ball moving about and try and win the game."

Tidser will be hoping his on-loan forward, Alfie Bavidge, can continue his good form after he netted a double in Saturday's win over City, taking his tally for Kelty to 10 goals.

The on-loan Aberdeen forward credited team-mates Craig Johnston and Lewis Moore for his latest two, with the former providing an assist, and the latter winning a penalty that he slotted home, commenting: ""I've been happy with it. I just think there's no point in being happy with 10 - I want to go and get more.

"Every game that we play now I'm going to be looking to try and get goals for the team and win the games.

"Hopefully we can now build a bit of momentum and finish off the season strong."

Team-mate and defender, Brad McKay, added: "Three points is big for us and builds the gap a little bit more, and is another step to our safety.

"Saturday is another chance for us to go there and do well. I've not played with Kelty down there but I believe the boys played well last time down there, played well against them here, in the 0-0, so we'll go there, look to get three points."

Tidser will have Tam O'Ware back for suspension for the game with Queens, whilst he is hopeful Jason Thomson should be fit to return to the squad following a thigh problem.
