KELTY HEARTS goalkeeper Kyle Gourlay insists that they will win more games than they'll lose if they can maintain the level of performance they showed on Saturday.

And the 25-year-old shot stopper believes that he and his team-mates are good enough to gatecrash the Championship play-off places are running league leaders Falkirk close at the weekend.

He was named as the home man of the match during the 1-0 defeat, with Tom Lang's first half header enough to give the Bairns three points.

Kelty had to play more than 45 minutes a man short, after Craig Johnston was sent off just before the break, but couldn't find a leveller.

Gourlay, who produced a fine save to push a Ross MacIver header onto the bar, and a superb reflex stop to keep out another Lang header, reckoned they could take positives from the game despite being on the losing side.

"We had really good chances and I think that the stats will show a completely different version of what actually happened in the game," he told Times Sport.

"Right from the get go, we started really well, started bright, and we created a lot of chances. We just need to finish them and it'll come.

"The goal, we kind of switch off. Only one boy goes out for the short corner - these things happen. We've still got to defend the corner and deal with it.

"I felt throughout the whole game we defended really well. We coped with their set pieces. I think the stats will show something different, but we did play well, and had chances to win the game.

"We defend well and we put our body on the line. That's what we want to do - we want to win games. I think everyone was up for it as well and we just need to keep doing what we're doing.

Central Fife Times: Kelty Hearts were edged out by League One leaders Falkirk on Saturday.

"We've been beaten 1-0 by the league leaders, and they're a very good side, but we've got a lot of positives to take from the game. There was a lot of good play, a lot of chances. We kept the ball really well, something we haven't done in the previous weeks, but since last week, and this week, the performances have been really good.

"We just need wins."

Two successive defeats, combined with results elsewhere, have left Kelty eight points behind Montrose, who sit fourth and occupy the final promotion play-off spot, with 11 games to play.

Hamilton Academical, who sit second, but are a mammoth 17 points adrift of Falkirk, visit New Central Park this Saturday, and Gourlay continued: "We just need to take it one game at a time, focus on who we've got coming up next, and keep doing that every week because we know we're good enough.

"We know where we want to be so, hopefully we'll get there by the end of the season.

"Like we said after the game, the positives were that, if we play like that, we're going to win more games than we're going to lose."
