WITH only one point from their last four games, Cowdenbeath really need to get a run going to move back in to the top half of the Lowland League.

Manager Calum Elliot was greatly encouraged by the way his team gave leaders East Kilbride a very tough game at Central Park on Saturday, but he is looking for them to maintain this form when they go to play Broomhill at Dumbarton’s Rock Stadium this Saturday.

The Blues’ recent run has seen them drop from the top half off the table, to 13th place, but they are only three points behind Berwick Rangers in tenth spot, and two behind 11th placed Caledonia Braves, with two games in hand over both, so a win at Broomhill could set them on a run which can take them up the table.

And that is what Elliot wants to see this weekend.

He said: “We were really excellent against East Kilbride, and posed them so many problems.

“We were on the wrong end of a couple of decisions, and I felt that Ewan MacPherson was very unlucky to be sent off, and it took the heat off the visitors at a time we had been creating space and chances.

“Even with ten in the second period, we created some decent openings and all in all we were the better side for long spells.”

He added: “It is so important we produce the same sort of form at Broomhill this coming Saturday, for we have ten games left and we have to look to win as many of them as possible for a good run-in.

“Broomhill are a team who will look to make life tough for us, but if we can produce the same quality as we did against East Kilbride we can win it.”

He will be without striker Ewan MacPherson, although the club was considering appealing against his dismissal earlier this week. His place could be taken by either Daryl Healy or Josh Jack, who were both on the bench against East Kilbride.

There were no injury problems reported from Saturday, so it should be a strong side which is selected to take on Broomhill.
