SPFL cinch League Two
KELTY HEARTS 1 EDINBURGH CITY 0

KELTY Hearts edged out their opposition from across the Forth as Jamie Barjonas' strike bested Edinburgh City.

It was a more than merited three points for Kevin Thomson's men as their unbeaten league start to the season continued with their third win in four.

With Forfar drawing away at Elgin City, it sees Kelty clear in first place by a point with Annan leapfrogging Forfar.

Kelty were the better team over the piece and they did everything but score in the first half with Nathan Austin, Joe Cardle and Kallum Higginbotham all having chances.

John Robertson came closest for the visitors as his cross-shot grazed the crossbar.

The game burst into life after the interval with Barjonas the man to make the difference.

The game opened up after the break as former Rangers man Barjonas fired Kelty ahead with a rifled drive into the top corner on 54 minutes. He had made a great run from midfield into the area and after his first attempt was blocked, a stramash ensued which eventually fell to the feet of the midfielder and he lashed it past Brian Schwake.

Robertson had a looping header land on the roof of the net as City pushed for a leveller but it was to no avail as Kelty comfortably saw the game out.

A full report and reaction from Kelty's Kevin Thomson and Michael Tidser to follow in this week's Press and Central Fife Times.
