DUNFERMLINE Athletic and Kelty Hearts now know who they both will be playing in this season's Premier Sports Cup.

The group stage draw was carried out this lunchtime with the Pars competing in the South Section, and Kelty in the North.

Going in as second seeds in the draw, Dunfermline face top seeds St Mirren in Group H as well as Stenhousemuir, Partick Thistle and Dumbarton.

As for Kelty, unseeded in the North half of the draw, will play against top seeds Dundee United in Group B, as well as Arbroath, East Fife and Elgin City.

Kevin Thomson was unveiled as Kelty's new boss last night (Thursday) and could be set to play against a Thomas Courts-led Dundee United, who has strongly been linked to the managerial job at Tannadice.

Courts was appointed as Kelty's player/manager in October 2013 following the sacking of Willie Newbigging and guided the club to Super League safety after a play-off victory over Dalkeith.

He then led Kelty to their first Super League title in the 2014/15 season, his first full campaign in charge, and won the league again in 2016-17, before the club joined the East of Scotland Football League.

They would go on to win the league crown and were promoted to the Lowland League for the first time.

The 40 clubs to feature at the first stage of the Premier Sports Cup were drawn into eight groups of five, with seedings based on last season’s final league positions then split on a geographical basis. Each group consists of one top seed, one second seed and three unseeded clubs.

The eight group winners and three best runners-up will join European qualifiers Rangers, Celtic, Hibernian, Aberdeen and St Johnstone, the current holders, in the last 16.

Ties will be played: MD1 - 10/11 July, MD2 - 13/14 July , MD3 - 17/18 July - MD4 - 20/21 July - MD5 - 24/25 July.

Subject to TV selections.
