COWDENBEATH are marking the 50th anniversary of winning promotion to the top tier of Scottish football by the production of a special booklet following the Blue Brazil mixing it with the Rangers and Celtics of this world.

Following discussions between the club and skipper of that golden era, Andy Kinnell and his team-mates, it was recently announced that the celebration event scheduled for March 29 at was postponed and will now be hosted at Central Park later in 2020.

A total of 13 ex-players from the 1970 side were coming along for a re-union to celebrate the last Cowdenbeath side to play in the top flight, but alas the coronavirus has had to see it postponed.

But it will take place, probably in the autumn, but the booklet has some excellent articles on the season and Cowdenbeath stars of that era and is now on sale.

Involved in the production of the booklet was club director David Allan who said: "With no football to watch, we have published a 48 page booklet telling the full story of season 1970/71 in words and pictures.

"It is a nostalgic treat, something to read and enjoy in the difficult weeks ahead.

"All the great tales of that era are included and some little seen photographs.

"It is priced at £4 per copy. There is a stock at Central Park but the office may be unmanned. Hopefully we can get some copies into Beath Bargain Store this week – but it is hard to tell with things changing so quickly.

"Perhaps the best method to get a copy is to e-mail or Facebook message the club or myself David Allan at daallan6754@aol.com"

You can also phone David on 07885 606759. P&P adds £1.70 to the price. Or you can make a £5.70 donation to Club 135 via the club’s website and that figure will trigger an order.
