WITH last weekend’s fixtures being washed out the six local sides will be hoping for better things this Saturday.
And there is a really big match on the card this weekend in the Lowland League with the top two clashing at New Central Park.
Leaders Kelty Hearts take on Bonnyrigg Rose in a match which could have a big impact on who wins the opportunity to challenge the Highland League winners for a shot at winning a place in Ladbrokes League 2.
The clubs are split by just three points. While Hearts did not have a game on Saturday Bonnyrigg were at Caledonia Braves and managed to pick up all three points with a late goal and now sit on 61 points from 22 games while Hearts are on 64 from 23 games.
Whoever can take all three points on Saturday is going to be in a strong position going into the run-in, although both teams have some testing fixtures to come.
For the area’s three East of Scotland League Premier Division sides they al have important games too for a variety of reasons.
Hill of Beath Hawthorn have a home game with with East Lothian side Tranent, who are fourth, three points behind the Haws with two more games played.
A win for the Keirs Parkers would put keep them in touch with leaders Boness United, who are nine ahead of them with two more games played.
But before that Haws have a big Football Nation Qualifying Cup quarter final tonight (Wednesday) at Keirs Park with a 7.30pm start against Camelon with the winner going through to meet Kelty Hearts in the semis. Another Central Fife 'El Classico'?
Dundonald Bluebell still have their eyes on a top five finish. They are on 27 points, from 17 games, and are just seven behind the sides in the top five, and they will be going to Perthshire to take on Jeanfield Swifts and with the confidence that they can get all three points after a good run over the past two months.
Crossgates Primrose, for other reasons, will be be looking to collect full points from their home game with Penicuik to take their tally to 26 points with eight games to go, which would maintain their advantage over the bottom four sides.
In the juniors both Lochore Welfare and Lochgelly Albert have a lot to play for as they move into the run-in.
The Welfare have an attractive Fife and Lothians tie on Saturday at home to Boness United JFC while the Berts have a South Division game at Linlithgow Rose as they bid to make the top five of their league.
