NETBALL in Cowdenbeath is really thriving through Kirkcaldy Netball Club and they have received a grant which has increased their stock of equipment.

The set-up has been based at Beath High School now for quit some time and more and more school pupils are getting involved.

The club's, Morna McMurray, said: "The number of women and school pupils coming along and getting involved has increased and we currently have around 25 players attending our training sessions weekly which is fantastic.

"We have recently managed to get funding from Fife Charities Trust which has enabled us to buy lots of new equipment for the club. Things such as new balls, bibs, agility ladders, crazy catch and other fitness related equipment.

"This has been a great addition which everyone thoroughly enjoys getting the use from every week".

Morna added that they are hoping to get even more people from the Cowdenbeath area involved

She added: "We have opened our club up to support the surrounding schools and hope to progress our dedicated junior members in to forming a squad of their own age group.

"We welcome all abilities to our club, whether you haven't played netball for years or want to progress the skills you already have. You can find us on Facebook, twitter and Instagram for all our latest updates".

Enthusiast Morna loves to encourage people to get involved in sport and keep fit: "I'm always trying to promote women in sport and get those who haven't got the confidence to do so to take the leap!

"It is good to see more and more people enjoying their netball."

Netball is a popular sport at Beath with junior and senior teams very successful on the Fife scene.
