COWDENBEATH head for Cliftonhill tonight knowing that a win over Albion Rovers in this re-arranged match will close the gap on Ladbrokes League 2 leaders Cove Rangers to five points.

Manager Gary Bollan was a little frustrated with Saturday's goalless draw with Elgin City but was pleased with so many aspects of the performance, especially the defensive work.

He said: "We gave Elgin's dangerous strike force little or no leeway which was encouraging but just could not force w winner.

"If we can defend as well against Rovers that will be just what we need but hopefully we can be a bit more clinical with our finishing in this one for there were quite a lot of decent chances on Saturday."

Mr Bollan is aware that Rovers will have been given a lift by their 2-0 home win over Queen's Park on Saturday but he wants to get the win which will take Cowden nearer the top two.

Jordan Allan could join Kris Renton in attack tonight having looked sharp when he appeared as a sub against City. David Cox is still suspended.

Meanwhile defender Fraser Mullen, who has been out for six weeks after an accident with a chain saw, is back doing a lot of running, but his injured arm is still in a protective cast.
