CRAIG MORGAN’S hand was raised for the seventh time in his professional boxing career as he maintained his flawless record on Saturday evening.

The Iceman kept his cool and bested Edwin Tellez at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena in his first six-round bout.

The 20-year-old was backed by more than 100 supporters from Kelty and beyond and they watched on as he went the distance comfortably and saw off his opponent with a convincing 60-54 points decision win.

“I know I can outbox anyone,” he told Press Sport.

“It’s probably the best camp I’ve had before a fight and it put me in a great position going into Saturday.

“I was prepared and I think that showed out there. I’m feeling stronger and fitter and no-one is going to want to go six rounds with me.

“I’m a crisp, clean boxer and I’m proud of that.”

The Dunfermline Press Sporting Champion of the Year was in a confident frame of mind going into the contest, which featured on the undercard of the MTK Fight Night event.

He dictated the pace in the opening rounds before working in combinations in the latter stages.

The southpaw featherweight earned plaudits on the night for his punch selection and movement, and he commented that his performance was “composed”.

“He made me work for it but I knew I could go the six rounds and that I was always in control,” Morgan reflected. “I landed my punches, controlled with my jab and got in and out quickly without getting hit.

“I know I could have gone for it and got him down but I actually wanted it to go six rounds. I knew I could last and now that I’ve done that for the first time, it’s another target reached.

“It was a great night and having my friends and family to support me, as always, was amazing. I can’t thank them enough.”
