THE first ever Benarty Hill Race took place on Sunday with over 100 runners taking part.

Approximately 40 volunteers, from The Meedies Running Club, were there early in the morning and ensured everything was set-up for the start of the race in glorious sunshine.

Said the Meedies Running Club’s, Michael Murray: “In perfect conditions over 100 competitors lined up for the start in anticipation of what lay ahead.

“They were not disappointed as they were rewarded with stunning views over Loch Leven, the Bishop Hill and much, much more.

“The route had everything underfoot from tarmac, trail, mud, grass and fallen leaves, to single track.

“It was a marvellous day and the posts on our Facebook Page was full of praise for the lovely route, our marshalls cheering them on and a lovely buffet to finish with.

“Such was the success of it we want to make it an annual event and people can get more information from our Facebook Page at Benarty Hill Race.”

The Meedies Running Club is indebted to sponsors, Loch Leven Brewery, Unorthodox Roasters, Morton Running Company, The Ginger Baker and a huge thanks to St Andrews First Aid for their services.
