Annan Athletic 1, Kelty Hearts 1.

Kelty win 6-5 on penalties.

A GALLANT performance at Galabank saw Kelty Hearts shock League 2 Annan to make round three of the Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Cup last night.

Hearts had started the game well enough but fell behind in 21 minutes when Russell Currie fired home.

Things got worse for Hearts when Murray Carstairs was given a straight red but they did not panic and got to the break only one adrift.

Kelty hit the woodwork twice though as they kept searching for a goal and it came in 67 minutes when Danny Ashe headed home.

Kelty, despite being short handed, saw plenty of the ball and although Annan had the ball in the net again Christian Nade was clearly off-side.

Hearts defended well and the game ended at 1-1 and in a thrilling penalty shoot-out Kelty took the honours 6-5.

Kelty: Mackenzie; Philp, Cennerazzo; Carstairs, Ashe, Reilly; Mutch (Husband 25), McKirdy, Ritchie (Linton 28), Russell, Dodd (Campbell 93).
