COWDENBEATH are delighted to confirm that Bob Brownlie has been appointed to the post of Club President.

Bob takes over from Alex Anderson who stepped down at the end of last season.

Bob, of course, was Cowdenbeath FC’s club doctor until 2017 and was a GP in High Valleyfield for 31 years before retiring from that role in 2014. He has been a Cowden fan all his days and was initially club doctor and a director at Central Park for 12 years between 1995 and 2007.

He then came back for a second stint as club doctor when the present Board took charge in 2010.

Thus Bob perhaps has the unique honour of being the only Club official to have been involved with two Cowden title wins – in 2006 and 2012. Bob remains a regular at Central Park, working for the good of the club and attending matches both home and away.

The Board believed that Bob’s tremendous service to the Club should be suitably recognised as well as the hands-on ongoing involvement he has at Central Park.

The Chairman and Board then decided to offer the post of Club President to Bob.

Bob was very pleased to accept and said: “I am very honoured to be offered the position of President of Cowdenbeath Football Club and I am very happy to accept this. "I originate from Cowdenbeath and being a lifelong supporter as well as being involved with the medical cover for many years until my retirement from medicine, it gives me great pleasure to continue working with the club in another capacity.

"Hopefully, in this role, I can be of benefit to the club and look forward to the new season with great optimism”
