LOCHORE Welfare completed the first part of their glory bid this week by a very good performance against Super League side Kennoway Star Hearts at Cenytral Park last night.

The game had the tag of winner takes all with the team winning qualifying for the knock-out stages of the Consolation League Cup.

Lochore started the game strongly and created a lot of chances and from one of them Jamie McNeish put them ahead.

There could have been more but the Star Hearts 'keeper produced some good saves to keep his side in the game while at the other end Lochore were in control.

Before the interval Welfare grabbed a second from a good finish by Joe Kinninmonth and it put the home side on their way to victory.

In the second period Kennoway tried to mount a come back but Lochore defended well and there were chances to extend the lead.

The win takes Welfare into a quarter final tie with Glenrothes at Warout, but while pleased with the win manager James Adam is keeping his eye on Saturday's important closing league game at Harthill where a win would guarantee promotion.
