WHEN the votes were counted for the Cowdenbeath Supporters Club Player of the Year award it was no real surprise that striker David Cox collected it.

Coxy played the second most number of games in all competitions standing on 37 and hit the net 11 times making him top scorer.

Goalkeeper Dave McGurn was second having started 32 games with loanee from Celtic Robbie Deas third having made 27 starts.

Jordan Allan was second top scorer on nine from 15 starts, a good return.

Right-back Fraser Mullen had the most appearances on 41 but he would be disappointed that he only scored twice with his raking free-kicks. However, he was the Players' Player of the Year.

Cowden finished sixth with 12 wins and seven draws from their 36 games yielding 43 points, there best record for many seasons and 46 for 46 against.

Manager Gary Bollan was delighted with Cox's contribution to the season: "David is a real competitor and he just never gives up and that is an element that often gets him goals.

"In the closing half dozen games he and Jordan Allan were a real handful for sides."

Allan's haul of nine goals has made him the target for full-time sides and he played a trial with Hibs last week, but manager Bollan has not given up hope that he will have the young front man with the club for next season.
