ALLOA ace Iain Flannigan couldn’t hide his frustration after the Wasps’ draw at Falkirk.

The part timers battled back from two-down at the Falkirk Stadium to claim a crucial point in the Championship relegation scrap.

But, the midfielder believes his side should have secured more than that as they dominated the match for large spells.

Flannigan told Advertiser Sport: “It’s good to get a point considering we were two-down, but a bit frustrating overall.

“On the balance of play, I think we should have won the game.

“The boys, showed great character and team ethic to battle back and we’ll take the point. But, I think it should have been three.

“So, it is positive in terms of coming back from two down, but I actually thought we were in the ascendency.

“It looked as if any team was going to win it, it would have been us.”

An Alan Trouten brace secured the point for the Wasps after they had gone behind within half an hour to goals from Deimantas Petravicius and Paul Paton.

It could prove crucial in the race to avoid to the drop especially with Partick Thistle picking up their first win under new boss Gary Caldwell on the same day.

And Flannigan was full of praise after the game for the spirit shown by his teammates.

He said: “Battling back from two down just shows the spirit we’ve got in the team.

“We just kind of make it hard for ourselves and are battling against it at times.

“I thought we played fairly well throughout the game, if I am honest. We just could have defended the two goals better as a team.

“It’s just always hard when you are two down regardless of who you are playing.

“But, performance wise it was good and gives us confidence heading into Saturday’s massive game.”

The result leaves Alloa second from bottom and in the relegation play off position, one place above Falkirk.

And Flannigan is convinced the side have shown they are more than capable of matching their full time opponents on the pitch.

He added: “I don’t think it’s (the difference between full and part time) anything we are ever thinking about.

“When we are out there on the park, I never think about it too much. Obviously, you could look at it and say it’s a factor.

“But, when you are out there I think you are just competing and trying to get the best result against whatever opponent you are up against.”
