Albion Rovers 1, Cowdenbeath 1.

Ladbrokes League 2

Attendance-220

COWDENBEATH would see this Cliftonhill game as two points dropped rather than one gained.

The Blues had twice as many shots at goal as the Rovers but like the home game in September, their finishing was off target.

Cowden certainly had to make a change early in the game when David Cox picked up an injury but Jordan Allan, who replaced the attacker, did pretty well, although getting the key second goal just would not happen for them.

The Blue Brazil had Fraser Mullen back in the side but the injury problems besetting Central Park just now saw the side with only five subs.

They had to hit back from losing an early penalty, but they did that quickly and then had chances to get in front but just never converted a few good openings.

Then at the end of the game they were reduced to ten after a bad challenge by Robbie Buchanan and he will now be out for two games.

Cowdenbeath started the game well and Cox saw his shot well held by the Rovers ‘keeper on only seven minutes but three minutes later the visitors were behind.

Rovers’ Lewis Wilson made a good run into the Cowden box and Dave McGurn tried to claim the ball, but clipped the player’s ankle and a penalty was the decision.

McGurn, after receiving a yellow card, chose wrong way and dived while Jamie GALLAGHER’s shot went high into the net in the middle of the goal.

But the Fifers were soon on the attack and Cox saw his shot saved before in 21 minutes after Kyle Miller was pulled down by Alan Murdoch.

Up stepped Josh SKELLY and his shot flew into the bottom right hand corner of the net. Cox and Gary Fraser had good efforts for the visitors and Rovers’ Wilson was the only real threat from the home side but his shot was far too high four minutes from the break .

The Blues started the second period strongly and Kris Renton fired over from a good position before Buchanan saw his shot blocked.

Eight minutes from time Buchanan was sent-off for a foul on Gallagher but there was still time for Robbie Deas to power in a header which rolled inches wide.
