IT has been a real journey of success over in Community Use, from beginners’ lessons to teaching swimming.

Heather McKenna, who is a former pupil of Lochgelly High, started her journey by attending lessons as part of the Community Use swimming programme.

She then joined the junior life saving class, progressed to the senior class and finally sat her RLSS Pool Lifeguard Award (aged 16), to become a qualified pool lifeguard.

It was not long before she decided to go for her UKCC Level 1&2 Teaching Aquatics and she has now gained a full-time position teaching swimming with Fife Sports and Leisure Trust.

It is never too late to begin your journey – swimming is just one way and perhaps with a few lessons you could change your future.

There are spaces currently for all levels of swimming lessons within the Swim Skills 1-4 as well as the life saving classes.

If you are not sure this is for you, perhaps our winter paddle courses in the swimming pool would get you ready for outdoor canoeing.

There is of course plenty of opportunity to use the facilities at the new Fife Cycle Park to improve your cycling skills and continue your journey by bike.

Any questions or queries, don’t hesitate to pop in and see us in Community Use.
