COWDENBEATH boss Gary Bollan has issued a warning to his players that they must start performing for a full 90 minutes.

After losing 4-2 to Peterhead despite leading 2-1 at half time last week, his team did manage to come up with a more promising second half this week.

However, it was the display in the first 45 minutes against bottom club Albion Rovers on Saturday which caused the gaffer another jheadache, especially with a trip to play the league leaders, Edinburgh City, this weekend.

“We made a few changes from the Peterhead match but the first half performance wasn’t good enough,” Bollan said.

“We didn’t pass the ball as well as we could and didn’t play with an intensity that we know that we can. Overall I wasn’t happy with that.

“In the second half we have shown a completely different performance.

“We made three changes and probably they did affect the game but with the chances we created at the end I think we could have went on and won it.

“We have played games throughout the season where we have played for one half and not played for the other half but we have to combine these and put in a complete performance.

“The players have been told they can’t perform for one half and not the other and they need to get a bit more consistency.”

Bollan made five changes to his starting line up after their Peterhead disappointment and one of the players who did come in was trialist Gary Fraser.

The midfielder has had spells with Hamilton Accies, Bolton Wanderers, Partick Thistle, Greenock Morton and Forfar and impressed during his 90 minutes against Albion Rovers on Saturday, although he picked up a booking in the process.

And Bollan hinted he may become a more permanent fixture.

“He’s a very good player so we will have a look at him and see where it goes with that one,” he said.

With a trip to Edinburgh City on Saturday, Bollan is hopeful that his team can gain three points which will take them further away from Albion Rovers.

“Edinburgh City are flying high so it will be a tough game,” he added.

“They are top of the league but we have caused them problems in the past and hopefully we will go down there and do the same.

“We are more than capable of winning that’s for sure.”
