SO Cowdenbeath go into the international break with four points from the same games played after Saturday’s goalless game at Hampden Park.

But Queen’s are certainly a useful side so it is by no means two points dropped.

Cowdenbeath dropped down to eighth in Ladbrokes League 2 after through the draw but they have played a game less than eight of the other sides.

The Blues probably could have done without the break after having missed out on the game at Elgin last week but manager Gary Bollan was happy to take a point from a hard away game.

He commented: “We knew that Queen’s Park would like to move the ball about at pace on the wide open spaces but we marked up well and defended solidly throughout.

“There were a couple of clear chances for us which could have seen us grab a first-half lead but their ‘keeper did well, while Dave McGurn pulled off a couple of really good saves at key times.

“Over the piece I would accept the point and a second successive shut out is always something you welcome.”

The manager added: “It was good to have Jordyn Sheerin back available but we maybe did not get our attackers into the game enough at times.

“To have four points is maybe a couple less than I had hoped for at this stage but of course we have played a game less than everyone else.

“David Marsh picked up a knock on Saturday and with no game this weekend he should be fit for the match with Peterhead on September 15.”

Kyle Miller will be out of action for another game yet due to the Elgin postponement but will be back for the following week.

There was a lot of busy activity as the transfer window closed for Championship and Premiership clubs on Friday, but for the bottom two tiers of clubs it does not shut until the end of September.

Mr Bollan may still look to add a player to his squad as some very important games come up thick and fast as the autumn period begins.

Meanwhile Elgin’s game with Stirling Albion went on at Borough Briggs on Saturday after the drama of the previous week.

Some intensive work managed to remove the dangers that existed which forced the postponement and the pitch was deemed playable.

However, the game did not go well for the home side as they lost 3-0.
