WHAT these days is the 'Neo Liberalism' that certain political pundits rail against so much in speech and the written article?
Searching, I found a written piece by Mr Putin, Russia's current president, dated 1995. Putin says there is an 'oxymoronism' in today's 'Liberal' thinkers, who are far removed from the ''Scottish enlightenment".
Liberal thinkers such as Adam Smith, Kant, J S Mill.
At no point, says Putin, does today's 'Neo Liberalism' address the real dilemmas of modern society.
Modern Liberalism, says Putin, is 'ephemeral' and is promoted by these philosophers who have 'eviscerated'.
Kant for example benefits of principal and morality.
Is there truth in what the Russian president says? What does the homegrown 'Neo Liberalism' critics mean in their opposition spelt out in speeches and local journal and newspaper articles?
Is there a false or a true liberalism, is there a contradiction, an 'oxymoranism' at play-are we 'joe public' being conned by the modern politicians?
