I AM not at all happy about the uncertainty over the Cowdenbeath Recycling Centre.

It would seem that Fife Council has a hidden agenda about our recycling facility and it would be a disgrace if our town was to be left without this.

If you look at the Cowdenbeath-Kelty and Hill of Beath area, it must have a population of 15,000 and to not have a recycling centre would be criminal.

I noticed the story in the Times from local councillor Gary Guichan airing his worries about when the Cowdenbeath Recycling Centre would re-open after the lockdown and it looks like it could be the last to re-open in the whole of Fife. If that does not spell things out what does.

If we were to lose the Cuddyhouse Road dump it would open the door for more fly-tipping.

Your paper has run many stories about the amount of stuff getting dumped in the countryside during lockdown but if we lost the Cuddy tip we would see a lot more.

The council has money problems, we all know that, but our town deserves this recycling place as much as any other town.

To leave Lochgelly as the only recycling centre for this district would be an utter disgrace and I would hope that these people who have come up with the idea rethink it.

The Cuddy tip I have used many times and it has saved me a lot of bother and allowed me to get rid of awkward items that are difficult to keep, so for me it would be a sad loss and I fear we would suffer it did go.

The council has given an assurance that there are no plans to shut the Cowdenbeath Recycling Centre. The Ed.
