I READ the article in the Times regarding the old NCB Workshops, at Church Street, Cowdenbeath, being demolished soon and it brought back many memories.
I started my apprenticeship there in August 1980, so it will be sad to see them go.
I was there until the bitter end and was made redundant in January 1989 when the workshops closed.
When I attended Old Beath, or to give the school its proper name, Beath Junior High, I used to go to the Workshops' canteen for lunch along with many others. A wee bit of a trek to go for lunch, but it was worth it!
I would love to get the chance to have one last look at the Workshops and was wondering if the owners (InSite Properties) would allow a site visit before it gets demolished just for old times' sake.
I am sure there would be a few ex-employees interested in doing so as well. I know the Covid-19 situation might complicate things, but I can only ask the question!
