I FELT I had to contact you after seeing the story on the Times website about the Rockore music festival being cancelled.

That is the third big Benarty event to be scrubbed through this coronavirus thing.

It must be really galling to the activists on Benarty Events Group to see this third massive event they organise hit the buffers because of this horrible disease.

Over the past few years the Pipe Band Contest at the Meedies and Rockore have been great events bringing thousands of people to Benarty, but now not one of the Events Group's activities will go ahead.

After spending a lot of money and time putting the Pipe Band competition, Rockore and Gala Day together it will indeed be very frustrating for everyone involved in the organisation.

Normally it has been the weather that has tested the patience of these committed folk with some times heavy rain being their biggest opponent.

This year it has been the coronavirus pandemic that has really caused havoc with people's health and life in general.

All the community groups in the area have found themselves hit by the came situation and all the towns and villages will not have their community days.

I just hope that the the people on the Events Group don't get fed up with the situation because all the events they organise are things that really sell Benarty and the Meedies to people outwith the Ballingry area.

So the Events Group have one event left, Santa Benarty's visit in December. Surely that one will dodge the coronavirus or will it be a victim of the virus's second phase!

DESPONDENT,

Kirktoun Park,

Ballingry.
