I WASN'T at all surprised to see the article on your website about the the Fife Leisure Trust being concerned about the position it could be in by the time it can re-open its premises like Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre and Bowhill Pool.

I would imagine we could be three months down the line from when the various leisure facilities run by them had to close due to the coronavirus lockdown before they can re-open.

That is quarter of a year and the volume of income lost will be massive.

But it is not just the Leisure Trust that will be feeling the pinch with the length of time that lockdown has gone on.

Every business on Cowdenbeath High Street, apart from the stores, will be struggling.

How could anyone allow for what has happened since the early spring. No doubt that the UK Government Furlough scheme will have eased some of the pressure but the fact that it has been months since most of them have been able to take any money in will mean big problems for many.

What the likes of the Leisure Centre and Bowhill Pool will have to worry about is such is the time that has passed since they were open will all their old customers be keen to get back there and get back on their fitness trails.

Or will they have found something else to give them what they need?

Hopefully their old customers will be keen to stick with them but really all the places such as these two need to get open again.

The longer they are not allowed to get going again the worse everything will get. It could be that maybe some places will not re-open. What about the pubs, it is going to be difficult for them with all the social distancing rules.

There will be ways of being able to manage that, but trying to get things sorted out will take time and really the business communities throughout the area need to be given a kick-start by the Scottish Government.

MONEY WORRY,

Stenhouse Street,

Cowdenbeath.
