I HAVE to say I thought we were a gonner as far as resurrecting Bowhill Highland Games was concerned.

With things such as the Edinburgh Festival swallowed up by the COVID-19 storm I thought we had no chance of having the Wallsgreen Park extravaganza in May.

The last thing I thought of was an alternative date, but there we are, hope springs eternal.

It is just brilliant how we have been able to find this gap to keep the dream alive of having the first Bowhill Highland Games in almost 70 years.

I think that Don Campbell deserves a lot of credit for this for his influence in the Games world, I am sure, has really helped in persuading the athletes and dancers to come to Cardenden that day.

As has been pointed out we are not home and hosed yet though. This coronavirus is going to take time to get rid of and it might be mid summer before restrictions are lifted.

However, with a bit of luck that will give us the time that is needed to make sure that the Games go ahead.
