I FEEL that the problems being experienced on local golf courses are symptomatic of folk getting frustrated by the effects of the lockdown.
All golfers know full well that their course is shut just now through the coronavirus and technically it is breaking all the rules to try and play.
But the casual guys who drive around with their clubs in the boot will see a deserted course as the target for him and might easily persuade a couple of friends to join in.
Looking at the Facebook pages of some of our local clubs and these people who are causing problems don't really care what damage they might do, they really are simply vandals with golf clubs.
Having CCTV is no bad thing but unless these folk are connected to the set-up it is unlikely it will bring any joy because these perpetrators are not really interested in playing too close to home. They will go to a neighbouring community if they want an illegal game.
Hopefully some of the perpetrators of this will get caught although it really has to be by a passing police officer who will fine them instantly. That could put them off for all they are there for is a free afternoon's golf.
