THE work of volunteers in Benarty is never ending.

The story in last week's paper about the Benarty Events Group having to cancel two of their superb events, the Gala and the Pipe Band competition because of the coronavirus, would have greatly deflated every one of them, but no sooner have they announced the cancellations then they are looking ahead and hoping to get Rockore and maybe a wee gala going in the later summer months.

Really first class that they have that on their programme, then we see about BERT, helping ensure that folk in isolation due to the virus are getting support by messages being got for them.

That really is amazing, and I will bet there are a good number of BEG members involved in that Emergency Response team.

You know this is fantastic from really such a small community. The total population of the villages of Glencraig, Ballingry, Crosshill and Lochore can't much more than 6,000 folk but there are so many that are all determined to do their utmost to make things happen.

Hopefully the group of real community activists will not be put off by the disappointments caused by this coronavirus thing and will keep forging ahead.

Another blow to them was the suspension of the Community Lottery, but without the pubs, the Institute and Welfare Club being open, it meant a limited supply of people to be able to access tickets.

However, hopefully in a few weeks time the lottery draws will be back taking place.

Without doubt the volunteers deserve the utmost praise for everything they are doing and with a bit of luck they will be determined to keep on going despite the set-backs.

COMMUNITY,

Martin Crescent,

Ballingry.
