IT is concerning that Fife Council have a £12million black hole that may require a cutback to services, but would it not be better if the council tried to raise the money?
There are ways this can be done. First is to fine motorists who speed or park illegally.
Fine dog owners who do not clean up after their pooches and, probably the most contentious, ensure properties are in the correct council tax band for their current value and not what the property was worth 10 or so years ago.
The Scottish Government maybe sets the banding but it is the council’s responsibility to ensure properties are banded correctly .
How many millions are being missed by a lazy council?
