IN the December 5 issue someone called 'Flare Stack' suggested compensation from the two plants run by Exxon and Shell should not be made to folk that are and will continue to suffer.

Yes Flare Stack, 'suffer' by making effects to ordinary folk seem like 'nothing' you seem to be of the same opinion as oil companies and all the groups and organisations that benefit from them.

To put the massive sum into a 'community pot' to be used by organisations in the community?

Do you realise that 'any group' or organisation that will benefit from oil companies will back flaring.

If a group gains money that is technically bribery by an oil company surely.

Obviously sir you are not affected as a 'lack of sleep' you seem to think is the only thing folks are suffering. Let me tell you the anxiety, stress, the dirt the smoke, fumes, and fear, when the ground is trembling. There is also the fear of an explosion.

Folk suffering, are not in a frame of mind to allow these companies to compensate groups for what they endure, thinking that will help.

How can paying organisations or groups locally, possibly help them. It is a slap in the face.

Come on Exxon/Shell get compensation paid out soon to those affected.

If organisations and private groups get the pay-outs it is a set-up.

The oil companies say that no one has written claiming compensation. Simple make up an application sheet for all to sign with symptoms and dates.

Let people know where application sheets are, really publicise it, but don't suggest giving it to others, this will never help the mistrust, the worry, the really bad health.

I have read people on the Letters page claiming this, realistically is this not enough?

But Flare Stack go and stack your suggestions somewhere else instead of drowning in all that has happened and what is still to come.

A WILSON,

Cowdenbeath.
