I HAVE been awaiting the long advertised crack down on speeding. Eh where? The Hebrides?

I note two local councillors drew attention to the problem and the Times had nearly two full pages on this.

Can someone explain why the new housing development in Lochleven Road should get special consideration for traffic calming?

Maybe one or both of these ladies have relatives staying or moving there?

Their concern, while commendable, is somewhat blinkered. I take it these ladies don't use the bus, and they nor Jim Stark, stand at any bus stop between here and Dunfermline, or Kirkcaldy and watch.

Jim Stark, when he is in the Times Office in Bank Street, can hear the cars roaring up and down that road.

As there are no banks in Lochgelly, (and not many elsewhere either) they should rename Bank Street, Racewell Street?

The problem is all over Central Fife. I don't blame the police, there are not enough of them and they have better things to do.

I blame the Scottish Government for the shortage of police. For the rest I blame the drivers.

It is not all young guys, but middle aged arrogant buffoons and not just cars but buses, lorries and other commercial vehicles.

Also I blame Fife Council. The existing speed bumps are US (useless). Build more and higher.

If it rips their exhaust off good! Hit them where it hurts, in the pocket, or do we wait until someone else gets killed or seriously injured like Mrs Macari in Lochgelly.

When I was driving, when turning a corner between two tall buildings, I would slow down to 5mph or less and if someone walks in front, what the hell are the brakes for.

I was standing at the bus stop across from Lochgelly Co-op, which is approximately 30 yards from the bus stop, another Fife Council screw-up.

One of these clowns passed doing between 60 and 70 mph. I gave him a rude gesture and he stopped down the road and came running back.

I put my bag down and and my hood down and he turned and bolted. He would have beaten Usain Bolt!

In conclusion I gave up driving because I am going blind. That is what I call responsible. There are none so blind as those who do not see that they are going too fast.

BILL BISHOP,

Ballingry.
