SO the candidates have been named for the General Election and it will be a really interesting to see how the local seats go never mind how the UK picture goes.

I am in the Glenrothes and Central Fife seat and I would imagine that it will see an interesting battle between the SNP and Labour with the former defending and that will perhaps set the scene for the other two seats which the Times seems to cover.

Dunfermline and West Fife will see the SNP looking to hold the seat while in Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath we have Labour defending with the SNP looking to regain the seat.

It should mean that there will be some really close calls again.

I remember that the closest result was in Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath where Labour won by just over 300 votes.

There was less than 1,000 between the SNP and Labour in West Fife while in Glenrothes the SNP had the biggest majority of just over 3,000.

I reckon that the commentators would describe them all as marginal seats which adds to the interest.

The carry on over Brexit has created the election but it has added that extra edge to the fight in all the local seats.

Keeping the voters interested over a campaign lasting over several weeks will be a problem for the candidates but no doubt the television will have a big part to play in the campaign.

It will be interesting to see what the local candidates will be saying and I hope that the Times will be carrying out its normal coverage of elections.

Every chance that the three local constituencies could produce the closest fights of the election in Scotland and maybe in the UK.

It should be really interesting, but then I am a bit of a election fanatic!
