THE problems with Lochleven Road, has been something that has dogged the area for many years.

The problem is that the road links the East Fife Regional Road and the M90, via Lochgelly, Benarty and Loch Leven.

Inevitably the road has got busier and busier but the other issue is the kind of vehicles using it at times.

These are often lorries of various sizes and they certainly tramp on and are not really bothered by speed bumps.

Vans also rattle down the road and do not really bother about traffic calming.

Councillors are right to air their concerns but I am not sure how this can really be sorted out.

There can be times of day when the traffic behaves on Lochleven Road and but at other times it can be mayhem.

I often wonder why the speed gun is not permanently set up on this stretch, it could earn a fair amount of cash.

I certainly would think that the residents of the new housing estate opposite Ballingry will not find it easy to get onto Lochleven Road in the morning or at night.

You know I'll bet there will be more than 50 houses there when it is complete and every one of them will have a car.

Now getting out of the estate could be a real test of patience but self preservation might mean it is very necessary.

I wish our two local councillors every bit of good fortune in trying to get motorists to behave on Lochleven Road, but it will certainly not be easy.

Ballingry.
