AT last we have someone in a position of power backing Maureen Kennedy, our well known former Citizen of the Year.

Councillor Alex Campbell is now coming forward to ensure that the issue of Cowdenbeath Town House is on the front page.

He has rightly ensuring that Maureen's cause is being fully put forward.

Regular readers of Comment section will remember how Maureen has aired this point regularly over the past few years.

We have been really concerned that the Town House could become a victim of decisions taken outwith the town and it might disappear.

I only hope that the feasibility study Mr Campbell talked about will take on board the history of our Town House.

Cowdenbeath Town Council made some controversial decisions in the council chamber of the Town House and it was the seat of power.

It was a sad day that when the modern Cowdenbeath Area Committee left the chamber for when they went into the Town House it rekindled its real role.

Maureen had a lot of good ideas for the new use of the Town House and probably it would be good if some of them were taken on board by whoever is going to come out with new ideas on uses for this lovely building.

Her best for me, was the museum plan because we have such rich industrial history here which is at last being noticed.

The mining history of Cowdenbeath is being researched by the group who are clearly wanting to promote it through some very good work and I would be surprised if they would not want to have a presence in anything planned for the Town House. So there is a lot to be hopeful for.

AULD COWDEN MAN,

Hill Street,

Cowdenbeath.
