THE havoc caused in the Cowdenbeath Community Woodland by youngsters seemingly wanting to get drunk really is disgusting.

The array of empty drinks containers really said it all, cans bottles, you name it the Environment group found it.

I heard that last weekend you can see they had been over again.

Only one wheelie bin torched his time and, surprise surprise, it was a brown one.

The brown ones didn't get emptied last week and were left sitting on the street.

It is bound to make the volunteers who look after this beauty spot in the town really fed up.

They really need support from all corners to eradicate this problem.

Maybe it could be the parents of youngsters who could do most to help the situation.

It is not one or two kids who are posing the problems it must be about ten or more to accumulate the amount of bottles and cans that were lying in the woods.

I noticed that one of the Environment Group suggested that kids could not be setting these bins alight and causing damage to trees without it leaving a smell on their clothes. Also the amount of booze consumed is pretty significant so that would also have an impact on their behaviour.

The fire damage to the trees is lamentable and really is something that should not be happening.

The trees are such an important part of the Community Woodland it really is terrible that they should be killed by this sort of vandalism.

If parents could keep their eyes on their youngsters when they come in at night, or maybe explain that the sort of activities that have been going on in the Woodland are simply wrong, dangerous and really breaking the law, it might have an impact on steering them away from causing such damage.

Hopefully this will happen or we could lose the volunteers who each summer make the Woodland a lovely place to have a stroll in.
