COULD I just say that I was very pleased to hear about Alex Burns' efforts with the John Thomson tournament being recognised in the Scottish Parliament.
He has been someone who has made community matters his business and been a community inspiration.
There is no doubt that the John Thomson tournament is the longest going football tournament in this area and maybe throughout the whole of Fife.
Generations of young footballers have played in the tournament and to this day it gives dozens of youngsters the chance to enjoy competing for the Thomson trophy on an annual basis.
Alex is a Cardenden stalwart and I hope that when he chooses to stand down as the years go by there will be people to take over the running of this great event.
We don't want this fine football tournament remembering a Cardenden legend disappearing, that is for sure, but I would imagine there will be people on Alex's Committee who will want to see it keep going for a long time yet.
FOOTBALL FAN,
Carden Avenue,
Cardenden.
